How to Prevent Insect Stings

Hello, my name is Dr. Susan Jewell. Now in this clip I'm going to tell you about one way to prevent yourself from being stung by insects or being bitten by others like mosquitoes or dangerous snakes as well. So one way to prevent that is to actually wear protective clothing. So if you are ever going outdoors, especially in the height of the season where there is an abundance of insects and bees and wasps and what not?s, then it's best to be prepared. So besides spraying on or rubbing on insect repellent, you can have a double protective layer by wearing long clothing that covers a lot of your skin so you don't expose it for the insects to bite. So, for example, you should go out and wear, instead of shorts, wear long pants, especially if you are going to go camping or hiking in areas where you know there's a lot of insects been known to cause, like for example, areas where there are a lot of ticks. So this will actually give you an extra preventative barrier against being bitten. And also, what you could do is to wear jackets instead of short sleeves. Jackets or tops that have long sleeves you can cover the whole left of your arm to reduce the exposure of the skin for the insects or the animals to bite. So wear long jackets, or long sleeves and long pants, and if you can, wear protective hats and sunglasses as well as spraying on or putting on insect repellent. So these are just some ways that you could try to adopt before you go outdoors camping or just going out for a day in the woods to prevent yourself from getting bitten.
