How to Use Insect Repellent to Avoid Bits

Hello, my name is Dr. Susan Jewell. Now, in this clip, I am going talk about insect repellent. Now, of course, when we go outside in the height of summer season or in the springtime, there is going to be an abundance of insects. And, if you go camping, you are going to encounter snakes and things like that and you are going to have a high chance of getting stung or bitten. So, what's a way to actually prevent from that is to wear an insect repellent. And here's an example of what you can buy. This is an insect repellent that you can buy in the local drug store or actually they are available in supermarkets. And there's a variety of brands that you can buy, but the main ingredient in insect repellent is deet. And this one contains a deet about 23% and then has all the other ingredients in it. But the deet is the active ingredient, actually is the insect repellent that is used. So you can go and spray you can buy sprays or you can put it in a cream form (topical cream). You can rub it on the body or the spray. Be careful that you don't get any into your eyes, because it will really cause stinging. So, this is a good way to prevent being bitten and being stung so that you won't have to deal with the pain and symptoms of the bite and the bee stings or the wasp stings. So, this is one way you can go and buy in the stores locally.
