Hi. This is Yolanda Vanveen on behalf of Expert Village. In this series we have been talking about square foot gardening. In this segment we are going to discuss the reasons why square foot gardening is the easiest way to garden. It's so easy and the reasons why is because everything is contained within a four by four box. Even if you live in a little apartment or you live in a large condo or you live in a retirement home, a lot of times, you can come up with a four foot by four foot square area and garden. At the same time, it's easy to access; it's in a raised bed so the weeds aren't going to grow very quickly and you've got your plants right there that are separated, so they are not really going to take over each other in any way. You've got the vinyl barrier so that they are going to be separated from each other. So, in the future when you want to divide up your plants, all you do is you dig them up and you can put them into other squares; the same with your vegetables and fruits. It's so overwhelming sometimes to have to build raised beds in your yard or till up your won soil when it's as easy as putting a square foot garden in and putting a different fruit or vegetable in every square. That way, you can enjoy your bounty every year for years to come. Next we'll talk about why there is very little weeding in a square foot garden.
