How to Decorate an Angel Cookie

Hi! This is Josiah Owen with Expert Village and today we'll be talking about making our angel winged cookies. At this point, our cookies have cooled off and our icing is ready. We're just going to take a spoonful of this and just drop it on. At this point, we're going to spread it out to the edges. If it overlaps, that's fine because we're going to clean it up here in a second. A little bit more frosting. I like a lot of frosting on my cookies, as do I cake. My personal preference is cream cheese frosting, but that doesn't quite work with these sugar cookies. Spread it to the edges. If you make a little mess that's fine. A lot of times you can cook these with your kids. They'll just have a grand old time, but they'll make a bigger mess than anybody would have ever thought. Just spread these out to the edges. Now pick this up and use your finger. Rub the excess off and spread to the edges. That way you cut off exactly where the frosting is. Same for the wings. Now you can see where the wings are. Make sure the frosting gets all over the head of the cookie. Follow the edges all the way around. Try to make sure you don't see any of the actual cookie. It's all frosting. You want to smooth is out and get the excess off. This is why you want to wait for the cookie to harden a little bit before you frost it. At this point, the top of the cookie will just fall apart. There you go. That's how you frost your cookie.
