Why Pawn Shops Don't Discriminate
Hi, this is Luis for expertvillage.com and we're going to be talking about pawn shops. Today I'm here at Inland Jewelry and Loan. Our jewelry usually doubles in appraisal, if you know what appraisals are. You know it's when you get somebody who's certified to appraise your jewelry and they tell you what it is worth. Normally our jewelry appraises for double because we work on a whole sale level. We buy stuff at a scrap level and we work at a whole sale level, so people can come in here and they get really good prices and that's what they want. People want to come into a pawn shop and pay half and that's what we do, we give them half the price. People who can't come into a pawn shop, anyone can come in and buy anything because we don't discriminate at all. If you're a kid you want to buy a video game, come in we'll sell you a video game, no problem. Or if you want to buy a guitar, no problem. Whatever you want to buy we'll sell it to you. But if you want to pawn, you have to be over 18 years of age and that is California Law. So you have to show your drivers license or your ID and you also have to be a US legal residence or a Citizen of the United States, you can't come in here and be from another country cause it's just not acceptable in a pawn shop. We're regulated by the government and those are the rules that they put for us so that we don't get in trouble. You know your ID has to be valid and it has to be up-to-date and it can't be all torn up or wrinkled or things like that and basically that's it.
