Hi, this is Sean Hobson, for Expert Village. We're talking about making interceptions. Sometimes when trying to intercept the ball you just have to be lucky. Part of being lucky is that you always want to stay close to where the receiver is. Stay close to the play. You never know when the ball will squirt loose. You never know when someone will make a big hit and you're going to have a chance to cover the ball. So, when trying to get interceptions you have to learn the quarterback's tendencies. Some quarterback's will throw a lot of high balls. So, when this guy is covering his receiver and this guy comes out he may want to play a little off of him, behind him so if the quarterback throws over he can intercept the ball behind him. If the quarterback has tendencies to throw behind the receiver then we want our defensive back to try to stay on the back hip of his receiver. When this receiver makes an in cut we want him to stay on that back hip so when he throws the ball under, this guy has a chance to intercept the ball. If you know the quarterback and you know what he likes to do and the way that he throws the ball, sometimes you can get picks by just being in the right place.
