Hey, this is Hugo at Expert Village. This section is on weather and deer hunting and how weather patterns affect deer hunting. As you've heard in some of these segments, a lot of the information is specific to the general area that you're hunting in. For instance, if you hunt an area where the fronts move in from west to east, that's going to effect where you place deer stands and just the general knowledge of the area. Now, for deer hunting, weather does affect quite a bit. If it's more in the northern part of the United States, which we're in, the snow cover will affect the travel patterns and the food. I know in Canada, the same thing happens as well. In the south in the United States, there's probably a lot less snow and so weather patterns are probably going to be in terms of the storms and the cold fronts. When the barometer's falling, when the front is coming down and moving into an area, generally, the deer will feed more before that, because during a really bad storm they will get in a dense area of cover, a bedding cover, and stay put, so they won't move around as much. So before a storm front really comes in, you'll find the deer really, really become active and move around in an area trying to feed and get as much food as they can. A lot of rain, sometimes the best hunting can be when it's drizzling or there's not a lot of rain, but heavy, heavy downpours will typically squash deer movement.
