How to Dance with a Small Shawl in Flamenco Dancing

Hi! Thank you for visiting expertvillage.com, my name is Yvette Parrish. I’m going to start with the typical size manton and if you notice it really changes the way your costume can look once you’re wearing it like this. It’s beautiful on the back with all the embroidery. I really love the mantons we have a lot of fun with them as far as the dancers performing with them. Alright start with your manton on your shoulders like this. You see how it has pretty fringe, kind of imagine a little bit like it’s a bell so when you’re moving the fringe moves a little bit with you. To start you open it, I’m going to flip it over my head like this…alright this is how you want your triangular to look. I’m moving counter clockwise and I’m just putting it over my head. Typically we have a lot of flowers in our hair, we have a lot of items, earrings so make sure you get a good lift of your manton. It’s a little bit of back bend if you can see my back, it’s bending a little bit. You can do a circle I’m just moving a circle in place and then you can get fancy and you can let go of it and you can just spin it around, catch it, bring it back on your shoulders.
