I am so inexperienced.. but I must agree with ncfaller.. that almost should not have worked. The notch was shallow while the fell cut was low. ? Chain saws are some S-C-A-R-Y machines... but trees are even scarier - when they are falling!

Hi! I am Drew Finn here for Expert Village.com. We are going to discuss how to cut down a tree safely today. This video is brought to you by Black Dog Video. You can visit it on blackdogvideo.biz. Now we are going to fell a tree where it is leaning enough and it is leaning in the direction we want to fell it. We won’t need a rope to encourage it. Again, I will clear several escape routes. We are going to fell it this way. I want an escape route this way, one back here. So, I will just move couple of logs and brushes out in the way.
