Hi, this is Sean Hobson, for Expert Village. What we want to talk about now is the proper blocking for our line when we're running the sweep or the pitch play to the outside. This is going to be a little different than another play because we have everything going in one direction. We are not going to try to counter back in a different direction. We're going to show you the proper line. Most of the time we're going to block straight up the field if we're not pulling the guard. If it's a straight sweep or a straight pitch we're going to block straight up the field. (Video demo ) So, we're going to block tackle on tackle, we're going to have our guards firing off and hitting the man straight in front of him if they're in a 5 - 3. If they're in a 4 - 3 he's going to go up and hit the linebacker. We have our center who's going to go straight up and hit the nose guard. We have our other guard inside that's either going to brush the nose guard or he's going to brush the man across from him. If there's nobody across from him he's going to hit a linebacker. Our other tackle is going to be tackle on tackle. Our tight end is typically over here on the left side. We want our tight end not to block this offside defensive end because he's going to have to come around and pursue the play from behind. We want him to come up and get inside of this linebacker and keep him to the outside of the play so he doesn't go over and make the tackle on the other side. That's the way we will basic block with our line.
