How to Cut the Glass in a Picture Frame

On behalf of Expert Village, I'm Debbie Reeves at John's Design Center and I'm here to tell you about custom picture framing. Now we re going to cut glass. What we use is the Fletcher glass cutter; only costs about three to five dollars. It's not really expensive. The first way I'm going to do it is I'm going to cut it in the frame. So I take my piece of glass here and I just put two corners inside the rabbit. Then I take my glass cutter...and what I'm going to do is, I have this big piece here, so I'm just going to lift it up so it won't break before I want it to break. I put my glass cutter on it and I cut it all the way down. And I just use this part of my hand; it breaks right off. Again, you don't want to have any scraps on your table, so you cut it and you you throw it away. So I turn it around and now I have one more piece I need to cut. What I"m using is the side of the frame as my guide. So, I put this just on the inside. Now, this one is a little bit smaller for me to hit, so I just pick it up and put my two fingers on it and break it right off (just like a piece of cardboard). So that's how I cut glass in the frame.
