The Different Levels of Hair Color

Hi, I'm Amelia and on behalf of Expert Village, and I'll be talking to you about understanding the laws of hair color. Levels are a degree of lightness and darkness in the hair, and they're divided up between levels one and ten. One being the darkest, ten being the lightest. The average person usually falls between the middle levels. About sixty percent of the population is a level six. That is your nice, dirty blonde, light brown. So if that's what you are naturally, then you're pretty much along with most people. What we're going to do is we're going to find her level, the mannequin's level here. And she's got several different colors going on in her hair. So again, you're going to want to take all of that into consideration when choosing the color that you want. So, let's see, her highlight color is very light. It's actually like a level ten. And then she's got some lower low lights going on too, and the darkest of which is not quite a three, a little bit darker, not quite a two, too dark for a three. So she's somewhere in between this range. So if I'm going to be choosing a color for her, I'm going to have to take this level ten into consideration, and I'm also going to have to take this level two into consideration. And if you've got color on your hair that's this dark, and your wanting to go lighter, just going to the store and buying a box of color is not going to work. You're really going to have to figure out a way to get that color out. A corrective service like that I would recommend going to the salon, not performing at home. However, if you're light like this and you're just wanting to go a couple of shades darker, then feel free to go to the drugstore and pick something out, because that should be no problem.
