Basic Knife Thrusts in Filipino Martial Arts

JOHN BROWN JR.: On behalf of Expert Village, I'm John Brown, and we're going to work some knife fighting basics. A common knife attack is a thrust. I'm going to show you two variations of the thrust. The first variation is going to be a low-line thrust, just underneath the navel, the lower bowels. The second thrust is going to be at an angle as to go in between the ribs. With each shot, I'm going to insert and pull it out. Insert and pull it out. With a real knife, this will look different because it will go inside and will not be out like this. So this will be inside, and I will pull it out. But for training, we use as many variations as possible. So the two variations again, a low-line thrust to the belly, thumb up, and at an angle going into the ribs.
