How to Survey a Football Field as a Quarterback

Hi, this is Sean Hobson for Expert Village. We're working with our quarterbacks right now and what we want to talk about is the proper procedure once you do use the three step drop, this is the proper way that we want you to survey the field when you're looking for the open receiver. You never want to drop back and stare a receiver down and then try to make that throw because a lot of times it's going to be either picked off or it's going to be knocked away. We want our quarterback to stay very active, we want his feet to stay moving, and we want him to be able to survey the entire field. So, it's going to look a little bit like this coming out of the three step drop. Once he three step drops he wants to keep the ball up high and he wants to keep his feet moving. You see the whole time he's moving his feet. He's moving, he's surveying the field to try to find the open receiver and he's never giving away which target he's going to go to. It's very important for you as a quarterback not to show where you're going to throw the ball to.
