Low Crossblock in Shorin-Ryu Karate

How are you doing? My name is Sensei Qaeem, on behalf of Expert Village. I’ll be demonstrating Shorin-Ryu karate. In Shorin-Ryu karate, in this segment, I’m going to be demonstrating the cross block low. Just like in the previous segment, you simply want to be in the same back stance, but instead of going high, you’re going to go low. Simply you want to come from your waist and you want to cross down. Once again, your arms are overlapping each other and you are performing an X. So once again, you’re coming here, here, come in slow, you’re crossing over, and you are forming an X. Now, I’m going to be demonstrating this on my partner, Mohammed. Mohammed is going to be doing a front snap kick. When doing the front snap kick, he’s just going to be in his fighting stance and he is going to do the front snap kick with his left leg, which is the front leg. When he does that, I’ll be in my fighting stance, I’m crossing, X block, low. Okay. You’re going to be in your back stance, kick, and you cross block. Okay, you want to make sure that you are in the back stance, kick, you’re going to cross, X block low, come from your waist. Kick, X block, kick, X block. Now, the X block is a counter technique you can also you can get many different types of techniques out of your X block. Once again, he’s kicking here, he’s kicking, you can kick, and you can move in. That is the X block low. On behalf of Expert Village, my name is Qaeem. Thank you for watching.
