Hi, this is Sean Hobson, for Expert Village. What we want to talk about now is the importance of good stretching before you ever try to kick the ball. Kickers have to be a little more stretched out than the average player because of the strain you put on your leg muscles. Those are the areas we want to talk about now, getting an extra stretch. First, we're going to talk about the back of the leg. The first muscle we're going to stretch out is the hamstring (video demo). We want to go straight down with the hamstring stretch. As you saw him go down, he went down nice and slow. You never want to go down too fast because you'll pull those muscles as opposed to stretch them out. You can also step right over left or left over right to give you an individual stretch on that particular leg. You want to hold it for about a 20 count to give you a good stretch. A big part of kicking is using your gluteus muscle which is in your rear end. He's going to cross over placing his ankle on his knee using his hand to pull up while using his off hand to push out on his knee. He's twisting the trunk of his leg so he gets a good stretch on the lower part of his body. You want to hold that for about a 20 count to give you a good stretch on the entire back part of your body.
Thanks...
