On their food and she is eating pretty well but how I got her started was how I showed on that food. Moistened it and then you take a soft piece and open their mouth and stick one little bite in. Usually when they taste it, they think, oh boy! Some of them you have to work with more than others. Here’s another real soft piece. Make sure it is real small - a lot smaller than what you would think. See, she spit that out. Maybe she wants to do it herself. She didn’t spit that one out. If they are not drinking, let her see where you got that, there’s a little tiny piece and that is about all you give them because they have to figure out what it is. If you teach them to dink water, just get you an old syringe which I’m sure your vet has some. Of course, take the needle off - and that’s just plain water - and you put it in the corner of your mouth and go slow so you don’t choke them. See how she likes that. Pretty soon they see that they are going to get fuller than and not as thirsty with cat food as they will their mother’s milk. You do it quite a few times a day – wean them off. I don’t cold turkey them. I don’t think it is good for them but a lot of people do and they get to where they prefer the water out of the bowl and the moistened cat food. But if you are in a bind like you maybe lost the mother and the kitty just will not eat, go ahead and ask at one of the pet shops if there are certain canned foods that are especially for that. AD is one and you put it on a Popsicle stick that you can get in a hobby store and do the same thing and put it in their mouth. Let them taste it and they will soon find out that they get more and it taste better.
