Hi! I’m Martha McCue with expertvillage.com. In the last segment I showed you how to chain eight and join to form your circle. Now I am going to do a single stitch which represents one single crochet in the count and then I am going to do 16 single crochets for the first row. 1, 2 sometimes your hands will get sweaty and your thread will not flow good, but just keep trying it will work. This makes a cute little doily that you put a little lamp on or a flower base on. I am not gong to count all these out because if I do we will never get done, but it will give you a good idea of what is going on. Now then when you join a row, you slip into the first single, sometimes the bottom thread gets in your way, but you slip underneath it… there we go hook over and draw through and you have got row one done. After that you go and check it. Your next row which is chain 6. 1,2,3,4,5,6 there we go and we are going to do a double. When you chain 6 the 6 represents… three of the stitches represents one double crochet and then there is a chain 3 between each other stitches so you are under stitch, yarn over. Now you have got three threads on your needle. You pull through two, that is a single crochet. You pull through the other two and you have done a double okay. Chain 3 and go to your next one. You were just making these loops because you are going to put some in those loops in your next row, see there you go. Double crochet with the chain 3 between each double crochet.
