Crochet: How to Cluster Stitch

Hi, Martha McCue for expertvillage.com. I’m going to try to show you in slow motion how to do the cluster. I have made a chain, I am going to do a treble cluster which means you have two yarns, two threads over your needle, go in, very slow, pick up the thread and you pull through once. Pick up your thread, pull through twice. Now you are going to hold this, you are not going to go on a pull through and finish out that treble. You are going to hold that thread on your needle. Okay, now we are going to do another one. It gets a little tight when you are making clusters, because you have got so many threads on the needle and they do not always want to slide at the same time. See you are holding on to the other thread from the second one and I will do one more and then I will show you how many threads we have on the needle. I can say it does get tight. Do not worry it will work. You have got to be persistent. Pull through two. Now then we are going pull through all of these loops together and that is going to form your cluster. As I say it looks like a small pineapple. Usually between clusters you will have like two may be three little chains and then you will do another one. Here we go. One, try not to split your threads, sometimes you cannot help it but try not to split your thread, it will make a difference in your pattern. Now we are going to pull through all four loops and do a quick chain and there is another cluster I can say that is just part of a decorative thing that some other patterns to call for.
