Tips for Chipping in Golf

Hi! I am Jason Wyatt, head golf professional at Sunnydale Golf & Country Club and on behalf of Expert Village.com, I am here today to show you how to properly chip. This is probably one of the most important spots in your putting game or your long game I should say; more importantly will help you save shots. What we are going to do is take I take my 50 degree wedge or my pitching wedge, I am going to put the ball back in my stance, place the putter or the chipping blade down and we are going to grip the golf club. One of the most important things is I am going to put all my weight on the front foot. Putting all my weight on my front foot and then I will make sure that from the waist down I am solid; I do not move. So I set up, I have created a little triangle here with my arms and my shoulders and all I want to do is rock those shoulders back and forth. One of the biggest problems we see are our amateurs trying to scoop the chips, breaking their wrist. What I really want you to think of is when you are making this chip shot is your hand; your left hand always stays in front of the blade of the chipper. Okay, so we will try one, so, chipping blade down, weight forward, ball just in the back of the stance, hands forward, all I am going to do is rock my shoulders back and forth. Notice I did not flip. Use these tips to help you chip better.
