How to Play an B7 Blues Guitar Chord

RICK TOBEY: I'm Rick Tobey and in this series, we will be learning how to play blues progressions and a blues song on behalf of Expert Village. Now, the third chord in this E blues progression is the B7 chord and it sounds like this and you'll notice that I'm actually not going to play the low E string. I'm going to try and miss it so they catch the B on the A string right here. Now, the E note is not in the B7 chord but if you should hit it, it doesn't really sound bad. It's such a low note that it kind of blends in very easily. Of course if you want, you can put your thumb here because this note is also in the chord and another way to play that chord would be to use your second finger on that fret, on that string, but the way we're going to learn it today is simply to put your second finger on the second fret of the A string, your first finger on the first fret of the D string, your third finger on the second fret of the G string and your little finger on the second fret of the high E string. So, you can practice that and then we'll put all three chords together.
