Tips on How to Play Blues Guitar

RICK TOBEY: Hello. I'm Rick Tobey and on behalf of Expert Village, I'm going to teach some blues guitar techniques. Now when you're playing blues guitar, it's important that you develop certain skills with your fingers. You need to be able to coordinate the fingers of the left hand with the fingers of the right hand especially when you're picking, so I've developed a series of exercises to help you do that. Some of the exercises involve mostly using the pick going up and down the strings, like that, and there are also some individual exercises where you go rapidly from one string to the next. There are also exercises to develop your skills with just your pairs of fingers. And especially important is to develop the strength of the little finger and we have a special exercise for that. We'll also be doing some strumming exercises and other exercises to help you develop your precision guitar technique.
