Hi! I am Jason Wyatt, head golf professional at Sunnydale Golf & Country Club and on behalf of Expert Village.com, I am here today to show you how to properly fit your putter or to get a properly fit putter. One of the most important things in today’s world of technology is putter fitting. What I mean by that is we actually come on out, have you hit a few putts and fit a putter to your putting stroke. Many different people have different strokes; therefore they need different putters. The first thing we are going to measure for is length. I am 5’7” and I have a putter length that is 31 inches. I would not want a putter length that is 35 inches. If I was to have a longer putter, my putter would be way out too far causing me to miss my putts. After we get the length down to the perfect size, what we are going to do is we are then going to go to the Y angle. The Y angle is very important. What we would like to see is the blade of the putter or the sole of the putter to be flat on the ground. My putter was sitting so that the toe of the putter was pointing up off the ground. I have the tendency to pull my putts a lot or move to the left. Conversely if the heel of my putter was up off the ground and I was to make a few putts, most likely my putts are going to go the right. So make sure the next time you are out, you talk to your CPJ professional and ask him or her to properly putter fit.
