How an Offense Looks During a Reverse Play

Hi, this is Sean Hobson, for Expert Village. What we want to talk about is the way our offense is going to look before we run a reverse. When looking at our offensive line, we want to start off with our tight end. We want the tight end to be off to the left side because that's where we're going to eventually bring our reverse to. Then, we'll put our tackle next to our tight end. The guard is next, followed by the center, which is where the ball will be. Behind the center is the quarterback. On the other side you have another guard and a tackle. These guards and tackles will have to stand alone on the back side because the main focus of our offense is coming back to the other direction. We'll have a wide out on the other side and a wide receiver on this side. You can run this out of a couple of different formations in the backfield. What we'll show first is our primary formation which is the I formation. We'll have our fullback behind the quarterback followed by our tailback in the backfield. That way, we can get a fake to the fullback, hand it off to the tailback, and have our wide receiver coming back around for the reverse. This is the way to set it up if you're going to run the reverse on the offense (video diagram).
