Ironing Material for Invisible Zipper

Hi! I'm Karen for Expert Village. Before we sew in our zipper, we need to prepare it first. When it comes out of the package when you first buy it, it's pressed flat in the front and there's ridge of teeth in the back. You should unzip your zipper completely. You need to change the location of the teeth. We're going to press it so it's flat in the back, and that the teeth will be sticking up in the front. Flip it over to the backside. You can see the back of the zipper here and the ridge of teeth. You're just going to kind of open the teeth like this so that it flattens out. You want to press that. You want to make sure that your iron is set at a cool enough heat so that it does not melt the zipper, so a synthetic setting is what you're looking for. Now, you have pressed it, it’s flat on the bottom, and the ridge of teeth is on the top of the zipper. Do both sides. Just kind of roll the teeth open and press that carefully all the way as far as you can see to the zipper pole. Now, we'll go back to our sewing machine, and we'll place the zipper. I'm just going to press that a little bit more to flatten those teeth.
