I have been sewing for a couple decades, and the invisible zipper has always stumped me. I am making a satin dress for a friend's daughter, because my friend says her zippers never look right. Thanks to you, I feel confident. (I signed up just so I could tell Karen that she is brilliant.)

Different Kinds of Zippers

Hi! I'm Karen for Expert Village. Today I'll be showing you how to sew in 3 different installations. This one is an invisible zipper. It's called an invisible zipper, because you really can't see that there's a zipper there. It looks like a seam, but there is indeed a zipper there. You need a special foot to install this zipper, and I'll tell you more about that later. Next, we're going to do a flapped over zipper installation like this. It's done a little strange with the red thread for illustration purposes, but there is our lapped over zipper installation. Last, I'll show you a center zipper installation, but I'll show it to you in a ready made garment where the zipper was faulty, and I'll show you how to remove a zipper and replace it.
