Hi, this is Sean Hobson, for Expert Village. Once our running back has gotten into clear space, he's broken through the line, now he's going to come against either a line backer or a defensive back. He wants to try to put some kind of move on him to try to get additional yardage. You want to make sure that when you make these moves that you don't slip down and you don't cause a turn over because you're trying to make a move and you don't hold onto the ball right. You have to keep the ball tight in your arms as you're making these moves. The first move we'll talk about is the stutter step. You hear it called the juke, the shake and bake or whatever you want to call it. It's when the running back is going to come up and make a couple of stutter steps. The defensive back is going to come in to make the tackle and then the running back is going to go around him. He's going to side step him. So, he's going to juke and then he's going to side step him. He's going to get a little shake in his body to through off that defender. That's why you always teach your defenders to look at the numbers and not look at their eyes because they can shake you out of the move. This is what the stutter step looks like (video demo). So, with the stutter step you want to move your feet, you want to juke him and try to get that guy to go one direction and then come back. The last one we'll do is called the plant and go. When you come up you're going to try to get this guy going hard to the right, you're going to plant and then reverse your field. So, you'll be running at an angle, you'll plant and then cut back. This is called plant and go (video demo). You see he plants, he's coming one direction and then he'll go the other direction. So, you have the stutter step move where you shake them around and then you have the plant and go route. Those are a couple of moves you can use as a running back.
