I will show you a quick example of how to find out what key signature is something is in. We know if there is no sharps or flats it is C, if there are two sharps it is D, but now how about the rest, this one has four sharps, oh! dear how in the world do we find out that what it is, well the order of sharps goes F, C, G, D, A, E, B, and you just have to remember and memorize that. F, C, G, D, A, E, B…F, C, G, D, if there were three more sharps they will be A, E and B. So you see F, C, G, D, well… well how do we know what this is in, well the key of E I know has four sharps, but how do you know it, well one way of doing it is going F, C, G, D, where is D on the piano, here it is, go a whole step up to E, and that is your little trick, it is in the key of E.
