Finding Minor Keys for Advanced Piano Lessons

In the key of C… we notice we do not play any sharps or flats, it is all the natural key signature. We do not have to like for instance in D… we play both F sharp and C sharp in order to make a C major scale. But let us go back to the C first, C has no sharps or flats. So how do we find out what minor key has no sharps or flats, well here is a trick… you are in C right here, all you have to do is go one half step, two half steps, three half steps down, and we know that the one that conjoins with C, C major also equals A minor, so D…two sharps, what minor key would have two sharps in D major key, well let’s see, there is one, two, three, D major equals B minor and so on.
