How to Stack Wood for Wood-Burning Fireplaces

Hi! This is John. Now we are going to be talking about the best way to stack your wood once you have cut it up. I have got just a few sample pieces here that I have done and I will show you the best way to do this. Lay two pieces down on the ground. It will be similar as far as size and height and then lay two pieces on that, two pieces like so. What this does is it gives you a little stack that you can work with to bring in for the house that evening for a fire. Also what it will do is when you have rain or snow or whatever, let this evaporate off the wood, instead of having it all stacked up altogether. It will hold the moisture in and rot the wood. This will also help finish the seasoning process if any wood is in there that is not quite seasoned yet. Just let the air get to it and sunlight, so it seasons the wood and it makes it little bit more drier for your fire.
