Making the Crust for Robert Redford Pie

My name is Brandon Sarkis, on behalf of Expert Village. Today, I'm going to be showing you how to make the next best thing to Robert Redford pie. We're just going to take our butter, and we're not going to add it all at once, we're only going to add about half of it to start, because half may be plenty. We'll soon find out. It should be nice and gummy and thick, and pliable. What you shouldn't have is any runniness or an excessive amount of stickiness going on. I can tell you right now, this is still going to be a little dry, I think. You can tell if you pick it up and you smash it together; how well it forms. That looks pretty good, actually. You see how that starts to form a crust there? I'm going to give this a couple more stirs, and I might not have to add any more butter. You never know though. It's due to the relative humidity content in the air, and the oil content of the nuts, and how accurate was your flour measure. Let's finish this up here. I believe we look pretty good here. Now let's get on to actually making our crust out of this. All right, you can see I've got my pan, I've got my mixture. Now we just dump the mixture in the pan. Make sure you get all of it; some of it will probably stick in the bottom, like it has here. Now, the fun part. I just kind of shake it around. I just kind of use my hands. I take my ring off, put it over here, take my hand, and what I'm going to do is just start smashing this down. The idea is to get it as even as you can, and also make sure you smash all of it, too.
