Hi, my name is Tim Labelle. This is my wife April. We are the owners of Pet Barn Exotics in Hartland, MI. We are here on behalf of Expert Village to help you choose the right pet. When you’re choosing your animal, if you’re choosing one you want in a cage or one that roams the house like a dog or cat. You can also let your birds out just make sure you put them back in when you’re not around. Ferrets and bunnies can roam the house, but you have to make sure you "small animal proof" your house. Because they will chew wires and cords, etc. So long as the (house) is proofed and they are potty trained. Bunnies and ferrets can be potty trained. Always use a litter pan in the cage. Try to get them to use the litter pan. That way when you let them roam free in your house you can take the litter pan out and put it into a designated area where they know where its at all the time. They will use the litter pan. Also to add a little bit when you were talking about ferret-proofing or small animal proofing your house, they do chew on wires like she said. Also you need to ferret proof, like she said small animal proof your refrigerator, the stove, things like that they will go behind. Heat ducts, make sure they're all closed and the vents are on top, things like that.
