Amplifying a Synthesizer

Hi, I'm Ben Anderson with Expert Village. And today I'm here to talk to you about amplification. Amplification is what you will need in order to get the sound out of your keyboard. There are some keyboards that will come built in with small speakers, but for the most part, in playing in a live setting, at least, you won't be able to get enough sound out of that keyboard itself. You will need something that's called an amplifier. This amplifier has many different features on it, and different volume controls. If I play a sound on the keyboard, I can adjust the volume on the amplifier, as well as the volume on the keyboard. Amplifiers are also important in live settings, although keyboards oftentimes can use what's called a direct box to plug directly into a PA system in a club. But oftentimes, you might not want that. You might also find that you want more sound, or more sound on stage next to you, rather than coming out of the house speakers in a bar or a club. So, having an amplifier can even act as a monitor for you to be able to hear the sound yourself if it's too loud on the stage. Amplifiers are also good for home settings. Even though they can tend to be really loud, with the volume settings, you can make it however soft or loud you want the sound to be. So, you don't have to worry about having to upset people by having the sound too loud. You can turn it down to whatever level you find is comfortable for you and the people around you.
