How to Pick a Ballet Class Studio

Hi! This is Linda Brown on behalf of Expert Village. I'd like to talk to you about the focus of the dance studio. You need to determine what their main focus is. Are they focused on competition? Are they focused on performance? Mostly you want to find out if they're focused on teaching your child to learn to love to dance, because that's what's going to keep your child going when conflicts arise. When that softball practice is on the same day as a ballet class, or when the technique becomes for difficult and they're having to be challenged and really work hard. You want your child to be excited about going to dance class, to look forward to it, and not to dread it. You don't want to get into an argument each ballet day. You want to ask questions once you get to the studio. Ask about their focus. Ask if they're focused on technique or if it's just performance. Perhaps what's important to you is that your child have an opportunity to have social interactions with others and learn to dance in the process. Ask questions. Get those answers that you need and then determine if that studios is aligned with what's important to you for your child.
