Hi, this is Tommy and I am speaking for Expert Village and today we are going to talk about chains on go-karts and gearing. This is your chain and there is about three different kinds of chains. There is two-nineteen chain, which is what this is and it's the most popular chain used today. There's thirty-five chains and there's four twenty-eight chain. The four twenty-eight chain is specifically on shifters and it's a lot heavier duty chain. These chains tend to wear out a little bit more than a shifter chain but it's lightweight and it adds performance. Your gears, they make different gears and there is a gear every, every tooth you add changes your, your performance of the gearing so people usually have about fifteen or twenty of the sprockets and they change for the different gearings. Like I said, these chains tend to wear out a little bit more and one of the ways to check your chain is to see how much bend you have when you hold it out straight. This chain has been used, but it's not too bad. They get more bow as they get worse. They also stretch a lot and you can tell as you drive your chain will get longer and longer. You want to; you'll want to replace your chain before it breaks, because when they break they tend to tear up a lot of stuff. Also we, at our track, our gearing is real big on our rear gear so we end up changing gears because if you run off the track you can tend to bend a gear and a chain and once you bend a gear or throw a chain you definitely need to replace the chain.
