Drop D Tuning for Guitar

Hi, I'm Mike Lais. On behalf of Expert Village, we are going to go over some guitar tuning techniques. Okay, it's time for some alternate tunings. I'm sure you've probably been practicing so much in standard that you're sick of it. Well, the one that is probably the easiest to get to and the most common to find, is called "Drop D", where all you're really doing is you're taking your low "E" string, and you're dropping it down to a "D". An easy way to find it is if you play your 4th string which is a "D" and then you play your 6th string which is an "E" at the moment, and just drop it down until it rings with it. Okay now we found it a little bit, so I'm going to go down below it and come up to it and that should be the same. Another way to check it is using your relative tuning method, instead of being on the 5th fret, go up to the 7th fret and match that with the 5th string. And now we are in "Drop D" tuning.
