Pasta Selection for Homemade Fettuccine Alfredo
Hey there, this is Chef Dominic with Expert Village and in this segment we are going to talk about choosing the proper pasta to actually make the alfredo sauce. Now if you ever noticed when you go into an Italian restaurant and you are looking at the menu and you look under the pasta dishes it will say spaghetti and meatballs, lasagna and then you get down to the more unique sauces like alfredo sauce and it will say, “Fettuccine Alfredo”, “Fettuccine Alfredo”, “Fettuccine Alfredo”. Ah, there is nothing else on the menu but Fettuccine Alfredo because it is the most common pasta to use with Alfred sauce is fettuccine. You can also use linguine, it’s a little bit thicker but in this case today, we are going to use alfredo sauce with the fettuccine pasta. Now you can use any pasta that you want when you make alfredo sauce. There really isn’t a rule. If you want to use a cheese filled pasta like ravioli or tortellini, you can use the stuffed shells whatever you want but the most popular is fettuccine and the reason why being is that it is thin and basically the sauce will cover the entire noodle and you will be able to roll it up on your fork and eat it and taste it. It is just awesome. Why fettuccine is the best? I don’t know. My family said it is but it is good and trust me, never trust a skinny chef. Look at me. I know what I am talking about.
