How to Use Swatches for Coloring Hair

On behalf of Expert Village my name is Elizebeth Muller from Liz's Hair Design in Hollywood, Florida. Today we're showing you how to do color on relaxed hair. I've spoke about levels of color before and we have 1-10 here in levels of color. You're going to go ahead and match the levels of color to a client. Now if the client was darker and she had more pigment in this hair, you would look for the level by bending the hair again looking for the level of color in this swatch here. She was a two before and you don't much that in there. I see some dark strands, but you don't see much. You're going to take this swatch here and go ahead and match it up against the hair. Don't lay it flat, because it just tends to confuse you and it's not getting the right color. You can't see the light in there like that. You want to go ahead and look at the color swatch and make sure that that's what her natural color was. When you figure she has natural color and with the combination of what she wants. Then you want to see how you get there. You are going to look at this swatch here. She wants to still stay in her brown family.
