CHAD BASTIAN: Hi, this is Chad Bastian, welcome to Expert Village. We're here to talk about the trike buggy and PPG triking with paragliders. Alright, in this segment, we're going to discuss landing, coming back to Mother Earth. So, we've been flying around. We've got nice control of our glider, not adding and letting off throttle. We're letting it fly real nice and gentle. To come down, we positioned ourselves within glide of our landing field, and let off on the throttle. And the glider goes into a natural glide. What we don't want to do is affect that glide with the throttle unless we're not going to make the landing field for any reason. We want to make sure we've got a big enough field that we can let the throttle all the way to idle. This is a power off landing. Let it all the way to idle at least a hundred feet in the air, and go ahead and kill the engine. Just reach up, kill the engine. Let it come to a nice, quiet stop. And now, we just want to keep ourselves gliding right at the runway. As we come down, we want to keep the energy in the glider that is, keep our hands high. We don't want to be controlling left to right unless we need a gentle correction to come on to the runway, but very little. If you start swinging the glider now, we're going to have a really bad landing. So, we want to just make sure that we're on the runway already, kill the engine, and let it glide down. As we get to about ten feet, we're going to add a little bit of brake. And from five feet to two feet, we're going to bring those hands progressively down. And then about one to two feet, the hands should be just about under the seat like this, way down under the seat, just as we're approaching the ground. Just before we reach the ground, we should have our hands all the way down. The glider will take a minute or two, or take a second or two before it actually goes into a stall, and by then, we've have rounded out and set ourselves on the ground. If we do that too high, we're going to stall the glider and fall to the ground. So, we want to do it just before we reach the ground so we can set the wheels down. If we're coming in nice and fast, we may only use down to here, and then we touch our wheels down and roll on in. At that point, hold them, brakes under your seat, and roll to a stop. Use the glider to roll you to a stop.
