How to Land a Powered Paraglider

Welcome to Expert Village. My name is Hugh Murphy with Surf the Sky Paragliding. We'll talk about a proper landing sequence. For new pilots, what I recommend is landing with your propeller, with your motor off so that your propeller's not spinning. The reason for that is once you land and the paraglider comes down, you want the paraglider to come cleanly away from your motor. But, if you're standing and you don't move just right, you don't want the paraglider lines anywhere near a spinning propeller. So, on your first landing sequences, you're going to come in. Line up with the wind sock. You'll kill your motor. Hit the kill button at approximately fifty feet off the ground. As you're coming down, you're going to flare slightly before you land in an attempt to stop all forward movement and vertical movement for a nice foot landing. And then, continue stepping forward to let the wing come down safely behind you. At this point, the propeller is not spinning so you're safe. And then, you can unclip your harness from the leg straps and the chest straps. Set the harness down. And, just think about what a great flight you had.
