How to Sit in Powered Paraglider

Welcome to Expert Village. My name is Hugh Murphy with Surf the Sky Paragliding. In this clip, we're going to talk about getting comfortably into the harness. A common mistake that a lot of new pilots make is right as they're lifting off with everything going on, holding full throttle, and lifting off, they're trying to reach down and wiggle and get comfortable in the harness. And, it's not the appropriate time. The proper way to get comfortable in your harness is to hold your throttle, get safely forty or fifty feet off the ground so you have some maneuvering room, and then, holding both brake handles in one hand, take your free hand down, slide your seat under so you have a nice purchase for your thighs for a nice, long flight. One very important key during this whole process is to maintain slow, smooth pressure on your throttle. Some new pilots have actually as they're doing this, getting comfortable, jerk the throttle, jerk the gas, and then, realize, "oh, that's too much." Then, they'll let off all the way and jerk. And, it would be like in a car if you floored the gas, came off the gas. So, you want a nice smooth flight which requires nice, smooth pressure on your throttle.
