How to Wire a Home Office

Hello! My name is Melissa Schenk and on behalf of Expert Village, today we're going to talk about how to design the home office of your dreams. In this clip, let's talk about wiring your office smartly. By that, I mean if you have the option, you’re starting from scratch, and you are able to do whatever you want, because this is the home office of your dreams of course. Think about the wiring of your computer system. In your home office, chances are that 99.9% you're going to definitely need to have a computer. Also, a telephone as well for any kind of communication that you'll need. Fax machines, anything like that. Being wired is going to be very important. You may want to incorporate wiring right into the walls, but you want to make sure that the position of your desk and where you're putting everything is going to coincide with where you're going to be putting your fax machine and your telephone. Are you going to have a telephone plugged into the wall or are you using a wireless or cordless telephone? In this case, we have gone with wireless capabilities because we have 2 home offices. We have a home office edit suite downstairs where we have it hard wired, the internet is hard wired right together. This computer however being a laptop, is portable and wireless throughout the house. Many different things and as technology to grow faster and get better and better over time, there are so many different options, but just another thing to be thinking about when building and constructing that home office of your dreams.
