Brushing the Outside Slide of a Springfield XD 9mm Handgun

We've got the inside of our slide scrubbed up, the inside of our bolt and bolt face. What I'm going to do now is I'm actually going to scrub the outside of the slide with a stiff nylon brush. I just like to start back here in the machine grip at the back of the slide. It's just personal preference that I like to start back here, you can actually start anywhere that you want. I just do that because I feel like this is almost like a little dirt catchment area. You know, for dirt and grim, you know. Dirt just seems to always build up in corners like snow does on a house, or when you have a dust storm. I'm just going to kind of work this in a circular motion on this left side of the frame here. I make sure I get up here because this little cutout here, that's what helps enable us to disassemble our firearm. I'm going to get in there and I'm going to make sure these areas are clean. I'm not doing this real rough and remember this is our nylon brush, because we're not wanting to take off this bluing that this firearm naturally has. I'm going to work the same thing across the sights, across the top. And, as before, you know this Break Free has been sitting in most of the day. Really, what we're doing is helping pick up some of that stuff, some of that dirt, that it's been able to break loose. Alright! Looking pretty good here. I'm going to do a quick look over real quick. I just remembered I forgot to actually scrub the back of my slide here. A quick brush. Alright! I'm going to take a look around see what I've got. Make sure it looks kind of like I've put a pretty good scrubbing on everything. And, if you see an area inside your slide or your upper frame, feel free to spend a little bit of extra time scrubbing. This just happens to be where I'm scrubbing right now. Seems to be looking like it's doing pretty good. But you can spend as much time as you need in any one area that you need to. Alright. Now that that's looking good I'm going to set this off to the side and I'm going to move on to my lower receiver right here and I'm going to give it a good scrubbing.
