E-File Tax Instructions
Hello again everyone. I'm Terry Bowden with Expert Village. And today we're talking about filing your taxes online. Now, we went over several segments, and now we're talking about the free file program that the Internal Revenue Service has started this year. It's a very good program, but it's only good if you've earned fifty-four thousand dollars or less, okay? So if you're in that category, you want to go down and you'll see that free file is available twenty-four hours, seven days a week, through the IRS's network of partners, okay? Now, we're going to go down to "free file step-by-step instructions". Left click on that. And it has a step-by-step instruction here on "how to get started", "determining your eligibility", "link to free file company service", and a review, and also "how you may exceed eligibility criteria after selecting a company". Now, the company we're talking about are several companies that are on their program. Even though you're going through the Internal Revenue Service, you still have to go through another party, another third party company to do your taxes. It just depends on whether they charge you a fee or not through their eligibility requirements, okay? That'll be up to pretty much your status and eligibility on your W-2s, how much you earned in 2007, and so forth. So, as you go through here and scroll down, you can see all the determinations, alright? And you can visit the "IRS e-file partners for taxpayers" link there before step 5, which is "prepare and e-file your federal income tax return". Very, very easy, but remember, please take your time and try to eliminate any distractions you may have because if you're not computer savvy, this will help you in the long run. And as I said before in other segments, about getting audited and so forth, it would be a lot better to have all your information as correct and accurate as possible, alright? So next we'll come back and we'll take a look at the e-file providers. If you do make more than fifty-four thousand, that'll be in the next segment.
