How to File Taxes Online at IRS.gov
Hello again everyone. I'm Terry Bowden with Expert Village. Today we're talking about filing your taxes online. Now, in our last segment, we talked about, of course, getting everything together - all your paperwork, W-2s and so forth. And we talked about availability and we talked about the IRS site a little bit. And now we're to go right into the free file, okay? So we're going to take our mouse, and we're going to click, and of course this is the home page like we showed you in the last segment, and we're going to go to "free file." So I'll left click on that. And there it is. Now, this is something new to the Internal Revenue Service, okay? Now, if you have earned - now this is you, yourself personally, not you and your spouse together, that is if you're married, but you're going single - if you earned fifty-four thousand dollars or less last year, that's 2007 we're talking about, then you can use the free file to prepare your taxes. In other words, there's no fee from the IRS, okay? So, the good things about the free file is, of course, you get a fast refund. Now they say here it's often in ten days or less with direct deposit. Many of you may not have direct deposit, so if you don't, of course it's going to be significantly longer. But if you do, I would probably estimate, or I would say around two weeks to be on the safe side. Just because this year they're looking at a very much increased number of people using their site.
