How to Make a Profile For an Internet Dating Site

Hi, I'm Marilyn Anderson, author of the dating book "Never Kiss a Frog." I'm here today on behalf of expertvillage.com to talk about how to do effective internet dating. The two most important parts of your internet dating profile; are your screen name and your photo. These are the things that are going to be out there making the first impression on everybody who looks at you. So you want to pick a screen name that's catchy, short and inviting. Now, your name maybe Carol or maybe Mark, but we don't want to put our real name up there just yet. So maybe if you're a musician or you like music, you would put Jazzy Girl for You. Or if you're a guy you might say, "Let's make music together." Or you might say, " I want to find someone who makes my heart sing." Think about it. Find a catchy title that's cute, that's short and that invites people in to meet you. The photo is the single most important thing. You want a photo that shows your face and makes it inviting for other people. You also want to make it look like you. The single biggest complaint is that people's photos don't look like you, so you want to make it recent. Rather you go to a professional photographer or take a snap shot at home. Also never under estimate the value of a smile. People love smiles. So if you can get a smiling shot, that is great. Ask your friends to help you. You can go out and take snapshots with a woman friend or a guy friend and have them pick the one that most represents you. Another way is after you've taken that photo, you might not know how to upload it on the internet. Or you can take it to any copy shop and they'll make it easy for you to upload it by giving you a disk. Or some internet sites allow you to mail one to them. Anyway, let me repeat; choosing a photo is the most important thing cause it's what says to people, "Hey I'm here would you like to meet me?"
