Hello, this is Jeff Naylor from Mtroniks Engineering in Mesa, Arizona, for Expert Village. You must only use the power tubes that your amp is designed for. It is not a brand-specific, it is a simple model-specific. This particular amp uses EL 34's so I would replace it with EL 34's. I recommend for your power tubes, that you do buy a matched set. A matched set is tubes that have been grouped together because they have similar gain characteristics. Any reputable tube supplier should be able to match your tubes for you. As far as replacement tubes for your amp, tube branding is very subjective, the brand of tubes does not matter. What matters is that you put the correct model of tubes in your amplifier. This amplifier came with the EL 34's in it, so I'm going to replace the power tubes with EL 34's. As far as my pre-amp tubes, this amp has 12AX7's so I will replace them with 12AX7's. The most important part about tube replacement is to only replace your amp with the model of tube it came with. Now that we have the proper tubes, we're ready to replace the pre-amp tubes which we will cover in our next section.
