Hello, this is Jeff Naylor from Mtroniks Engineering in Mesa, Arizona, for Expert Village. In this segment we're going to discuss the basic tools needed to diagnose and bias your tube amp. The first tool is the volt meter. Your volt meter must be capable of reading in millivolts. A millivolts is one thousandth of a volt. For example, two hundred millivolts is .2 volts. I recommend a good quality digital multimeter such as this one. Be sure to use test leads with small insulated covers. The test leads can be purchased at most hobby shops and electronic stores. It's essential that the leads are insulated with these little rubber covers, if not, the leads could shorten causing inaccurate readings. On some versions of this amp, it is necessary to use a Phillips screwdriver to access the connection plate. If you really want to see what is going on inside your amp, you can use an oscilloscope. An oscilloscope provides a graphic depiction of the power output of your amp. Now we know the basic tools you'll need. In our next segment we'll discuss the optional tools you'll need to fine-tune your amp.
