How to Connect the Nintendo Wii to the Internet

So now I'll show you how to set up the wireless internet on your Wii. Now for this to work you have to have a wireless router already set up in your house but what we'll do is we'll just go to the Wii options, go to Wii settings, and we'll go over one page here. Then you'll see the internet button right here. We'll click on that and we turned on parental controls earlier so its asking for our pin. If you don't have parental controls on yet, it won't be in but I'll go ahead and enter that pin. Alright, now here we are at the internet settings, you've got the connection settings, console information and user agreements. To set up the internet we're just going to go to the connection settings and I've already got mine set up but I'll show you how to set up connection. So you have your wireless connection and your wired connection, but I'm going to show you the set up of the wireless and you click on wireless and you want to hit search for an access point, and then it brings up the available wireless networks and typically your network should be there and should be the strongest. So you should know what the name of your network is and you can change that by going into your wireless router settings and changing it there and typically it will be password protected so you will also have to know your password. So at this point you would click right here and you would enter your password and it should connect you to the internet from there and see I don't have this but it's also available with a Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector. It's kind of what those USB points in the back can be set up with, or used for and also if you had a USB connection to the internet you could do that as well, but I do not so... I like using the wireless connection, it makes it pretty easy, typically you are not going to have an internet connection around your t.v., I don't, so that's why I am using the wireless. That's how you set up the wireless connection on your Wii and after you've got you wired up, you can change the options on your WiiConnect24, which is basically when the Wii is off; it is still connected to the internet so you can get updates and stuff like that. So what happens is, now it's on right now, and as I said you'll get updates and letters from Nintendo and that kind of stuff when it's on. You can go ahead and turn it off if you don't want to get that when it's and every time you turn your Wii on, you will get those updates, but you can turn off the standby connection. I just leave it on and what happens is that Nintendo sends you a letter saying that there's a new channel available for download. Then by default the Wii will light up blue and kind of glow and you'll know there's a message and you can turn the Wii on and go to the messages and check it out. You can set that as Bright, Dim, or even turn that off so that it doesn't glow at all. So thats the basic WiiConnect24 settings that you can set up after you've got your internet set up.
