Nintendo Wii Settings Menu

So now I'm going to show you the different Wii settings that you can change. To get to the settings, you go to the bottom left-hand corner, go to Wii options, and then you have your Wii settings. There's a couple page, three pages actually of settings. You have your console nickname, enter in whatever you want. There's the calendar. You can set the date and time. I think actually when you turn your Wii on for the first time, it might ask you to do this. We'll go back. There's the screen. Typically you probably don't want to mess with this, but there's a screen position, so for some reason this is off center, you can change it around a little bit. I'm not going to really mess with that. There's a widescreen settings. If you're using a high definition T.V. and you're using your component cables, you probably want to switch to the widescreen 16:9. But we're on a standard definition so we'll leave it in 4:3, and by default I believe it's in the standard definition. There is T.V. resolution. You got your standard, or if you're in HDTV mode it should be on 480p, that is if you're using an HDTV and you also will need the component cables I talked about earlier to use this setting. This screen burn-in reduction, if you turn it on, the Wii will go...like if you're not playing for awhile and you're just leaving it there, it'll dim so it doesn't burn into your T.V., but typically you probably don't have to worry about that too much. Let's see what else. There's the sound, which I guess if you have surround sound hooked up, you can use it. Typically you're just going to stay in stereo. On the next page here there's parental controls, which I'll show you how to turn on in a separate clip. There is the sensor bar, you can adjust. You want to tell the Wii where it is. Since mine's above the T.V., that's set up. If for some reason yours is set up below the T.V., you'll have to change this. There's the sensitivity. To change the sensitivity, you can just go to the sensitivity section, and you press the and - to adjust the sensitivity. So I just pushed the a couple times, and it started going faster, and as I put the -, it goes a little bit slower. I'm pretty much used to it on the default settings, so I'm not going to really want to mess with that, but you could if you wanted to. We've also got the Internet, which I'll show you how to connect to the Internet in a separate clip. The WiiConnect 24, which I'll talk about in the Internet clip, actually. Go to the last page. You can choose a language, country. Wii system update, sometimes it'll ask you to automatically update. You'll get a message saying, "Would you like to update?" and you can just do that, or you can perform an update by going into the settings and clicking this. It'll ask you if you want to do it. You have to be connected to the Internet for this to work. This last option, which I really don't recommend even messing with is formatting the memory. Once you do this, all your channels and data are going to be erased. So it's undo-able, so not a good idea. I'll just cancel that. That's the basic overview of the settings. I'll go into more detail about the parental controls, and I'll connect your Wii to the Internet, and using the WiiConnect 24.
